I'd be ok catching them this size on a soldered hook to spoon and use the spoon eye.

I don't feel comfortable trusting solder to catch a fish that can bend a 5/o stainless heavy jig hook.:D

This fish was hooked and landed on a #4 SS hook on a dropper rig.
