Default Just wanting to know if I should spend the time

to make a DVD or CD of my tying and go through all the steps I use. I have been thinking about this for a while now, but have not had the time and still don't, but maybe I can just force the time in. Also one of our members here was helping me a little with one I made that was just speed tying a jig with everything set to go. On my Nor I can tie a jig in probably one minute, but I think the video I have it took me close to 1 minute 12 seconds including the drop of glue, but had a few things not ready and we didn't end it exactly right, LOL! At then end I quietly tell my wife, done and she said, I don't know how to turn it off and I said probably the same button, LOL!

Anyway if I was to make one would anyone want it? How much? Don't know, but not a lot is all I can say now. Kind of just need to know if it would be worth my time to make this project.

If I did it I would show each step and why I do it like I do and even include me cutting my feathers and all kinds of jigs I tie.

Just looking for opinions now and thinking I may do this as I know it will not be all that long before I quit selling jigs I think, or at the very least slow way down from what I do now.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Mr.Nantz I think that it is a great idea! For a half hour or so video $10 or $12 bucks should not be bad.

    Thanks!

I guess the worth it part is really relating to how many may want one. I would not really be trying to make a bundle on this or anything like that. Just something to help people that are any place for just starting to people that may have been at it for a while and still need some help.

Don't know how well it'd sell but it'd be nice to have one available. I've thought about doing one as well but like you haven't.

I hear ya on the slowing down on jig orders. I'll still keep going for a while though. Hope people appreciate the quality that most folks here pump out for a heck of a deal...not many people would work that cheap. Gotta love tying.

Just my thoughts, if you can find about anything you are looking for on line when it comes to tying jigs and flies which can be used on both methods. For instance you can take a fly pattern you like and implement it into a jig with a little thought behind it before tying the jig. And you can do the same with a jig pattern and turn it into a fly pattern. There are also numerous beginner videos out there that are readily available to be view or downloaded to view at a later time. And a vast majority of these do not cost anything.

So the question would be what would make yours stand apart from what is already available at no cost, to want to purchase a video from you even if it is for a small amount of money. I think you would have to offer something more than the normal jig tying video in order to make someone think about making the purchase. Not trying to burst your bubble or anything but me as a consumer would be looking for something a little more or maybe a little different than what is currently available on the internet at this time. I am sure you would get a lot of support from CDC members for this site is great for supporting each other but how much interest would it draw from beyond CDC.

Again this is just my opinion, since you where asking

I also have slowed down my selling and have stopped my main selling website. At 65 my fingers have learned "Arthur - it - is" and the tying I do is just for my own use and for a few friends. As far as making a DVD I guess you would have to consider the return on your investment. A few years back I considered making a you tube video. When I did my research I found out there was already an explosion of free you tube videos on jig tying. Here in the archives on c.c a beginner cab find a lot of useful information if they do their homework.

There would be a market for a DVD with schools, youth groups, scout units, and outlets such as that. You would have to give a lot of them away in promotion, publicity etc to create a demand for your product. Just a thought.

I agree there is so much out there for free and maybe no one would want it as it would be my way to tie and not always like others. Gonna think on it some, but would probably be different in some way and the same in others.

Maybe just not worth messing with even if my intent is not making money, but just sharing what I do and not necessarily what some other do. I do know a lot of the jig tying videos I have seen are less than inspiring and I would follow their methods anyway. I don't like most of them I see as they don't tie like I do. Not that their will not work or that mine is better, but I know how well mine catch fish and how many guys bank on them as their main weapon. I guess it boils down to a lot of the videos I have seen are not that good and yes I have seen some that were good, but still different. Some probably would like the way I tie either though.

    Thanks,

I agree you have a lot to offer my friend and that your video will be unique. I am sure your family and friends here on c.c would love to have one for prosperity. I will be the first in line. Send me your DVD along with a modest bill when you have it completed. You already have my address.

Someone like you Skip, I think it would be nice to show some of us up and coming tiers, how someone of your expereince and talent the how to's. I'm still learning as much as I can but it would be nice to see how to tye some of the harder to tye flies. Just worndering if you tyed that fly that you bought that really expensive hackle for, sorry can't remember the name of that fly but it was really pretty and the hackle was also really nice. But anyways something like that would be nice to see on video by you.
