Question Buck-Tail VS Kip-Tail PLEASE HELP!!!

Which is best? Looking at buying some. I'm using Marabou, Mallard Flank, and some hen hackle paired up with flashabou. I'm getting tired of using just feathers and looking for something new. I've tried using Deer belly on my gill jigs but it DOES NOT last very long at all , so I'm wanting either Buck or Kip from crazy angler. Please Help me out guys .

I use very little bucktail or kiptail. I use a lot of marabou and rabbit zonker strips. On small jigs 1/32 and under I like to use cross cut. Bigger jigs I go with the straight cut. Movement in the water is what I go buy and of course fishing success. marabou and bunny fur fill the bill on both criteria.

tie up a bunny jig and put it a clear container with water. I would bet you like what you see.

Try the kip, bucktail is more for bigger jigs (1/4-3 oz).

I use both and with equal success. Kip tail is wavy where bucktail lays straight. Make sure you give squirrel tail a shot also, sell a lot of jigs tied with it.

If I'm tying brim patterens I go with the bucktail dosn't hold up as long as the kip the squirrel last even longer the kip is best for most patterens squirrel for minnows unless You want to flare it I fish only kip and squirrel jigs in the dead of winter. period! don't us feathers till the fish are well in their run to the nest.

I use both bucktail and kip. the bucktail is used for 1/16 and 3/32 bucktail jigs, with the hair about 2 inches long. these are for casting around brushpiles and pilings. the kiptail, I use for pinkie type jigs, 1/16, and keep that hair about 1-1 1/2 inches long. so they are both excellent for different things.

I use both for tying flies, but use kiptail for jigs. It has a bit more volume to my eyes, and is a little softer. Also, I would NOT tie jigs with deer belly. That hair flares a lot, so it would not be ideal for this purpose. Deer belly is what is used for deer hair bass poppers, muddler minnows, and things where they spin it and clip to shape.

If you want something a little different, get some arctic fox. It's somewhere between kiptail and rabbit...

1/32 oz and smaller jigs, rabbit is definitely the way to go! Love the action it has over marabou.
