Buck-Tail VS Kip-Tail PLEASE HELP!!!

Have lots of Bucktail for tying, but don't like to use it my self. Have learned to use Kiptails fishing some, but primary I use and fish with feathers. I do have lots of Fox tails of different colors and some Arctic Fox, lots of Rabbit, Squirrel and more.

I caught some crappie this year using kip tail and want to try the fox more and more as I like it length and it's flexibility. Now Arctic Fox is probably the finest hair I have seen that is long, but it is harder to deal with when it tangles it self around the hook and it harder to deal with that say marabou. I do feel it will out last marabou, but I don't worry when I can catch 50 or more on marabou and even thought the fish thin it when hitting, it still last enough for me.

Any of you that shop online stores have surely seen how many types of products (both fake and real) say it's a lot like marabou, LOL! I find that statement which all of them use to be the real tell. Nothing has the action of marabou and everyone want to pitch a product by saying it's a lot like marabou and if one wants something like marabou why not just use marabou, LOL!

I would use kiptail before I use bucktail. Sometimes I add just two strands of bucktail for effect.

1st choice - hackle
2nd choice - marabou or kiptail

Kip for smaller jigs and bucktail on larger 1/8 and up. Deer belly only for spinning into bugs for fly fishing.

My only problem with bucktail for smaller jigs is you throw away 3/4 of the hair you cut off unless you want it 4" long. That's a waste for me as I tie saltwater jigs and want the 4-6" long hair.

Order a couple of kiptails (calf tails, same thing) and try them. They work pretty good especially on bream.
