what you can try if you have women around is use their straightener(for hair) and straighten the ends of the kips this works sometimes otherwise i dont use it.

I am tying more hair jigs lately and I was wondering, what do you folks do with the curly, twisted end of the calfs tail? To me they don't swim right with the curled end on the jig.
The reason I am tying more is I have been catching more fish on them lately. It may be because I caught a few good ones and won't put the kiptail away since.
It ain't nuttin but luck.

I haven't actually tried this, but the idea came to me while driving(do lots of that) and I think it'll do. Cut the tail, curl and all, then take the hair and roll it back and forth in your fingers til the curls don't all lay in the same direction. It might come out a little bulky but it should mix up the hair enough to make it usable. Let me know. Busy beyond words lately and don't get much time at the vise.

Ok, I didnt want to waste it if it was usable. Maybe I can save the ends and make me a nice rug for my head. Thanks

I don't use the twisted tail ends unless I can straighten it out. a hot hair straightener, and then pulling hard on the hair, while still on the tail can save alot of kiptail. heck, before I use any kiptail, I'll grab it by the butt end, and pull it thru my other hand while gripping it pretty good. just like you are trying to pull the hair out of the tail. do this about ten times, and any tail will improve alot, even without using a hair straightener.
I usually don't use the ends either.I don't throw them away but save them if I need them.

I just pitch them myself.
