Could you post a pic of the jig(s) you cayght these fish on?

Sorry this is the best I could do right now, but I just can't believe I don't have good picture of some of my favorite Roadrunners on my web site, how dumb is that?

Now this is the same colors and materials, but the one I was using was a 1/32 oz. and had silver flash with one piece of red Holographic flash. Caught most on this one and oh yeah it has a willow leaf blade to....

I am going to tie some more of these for my self and will get a better picture later, but this 1/8 oz. Roadrunner is the same other than what I said about the flash and blade.

Then the other one I have been using this color combo since the 1970's and the body is Kelly Green just in case you can't see it well..

Ok going to get a better picture of this one too, but has a FL Red Head/Kelly Green/FL yellow marabou tail.
Also BTW, the to one will work well with regular chenille too and it would be color #82 Copenhagen blue and that is my favorite blue to use.

Hey Skip: Seems like you and I only get to fish when it is windy. Went out yesterday and it was windy again. The Crappies were in the cypress trees. Ended up with 14 smallest was 12 inched and biggest 2 were 14 inches. Also got 8 nice bream. They shut down and got lock jaw about 10:00 a.m. All caught on jigs ( silver head, Silver tinsel chenille body and shad gray marabou tail).

This was right before rain and then a thunder storm. Bumped into a guy that told me he had been out the day before and got 33. he said he hadn't got a bite all morning so feel that I was doing every thing right.

For what it's worth I saw three Watermoccisins in the trees. All of these snakes were in the trees trying to shead there winter skins. They are dangerious this time of year as they will strike at will because of the sheding. So keep a eye out for these critters and be carefull.

Redman you right on with them snakes as they can be a nasty sort for sure. My neighbor and I (when I was a kid) had a nice collection of snakes in his side yard. Lots of different kinds and one Moccasin that was more nasty than most. Would strike the glass cage we had him in any time you got your hand close to that.

We had a lot of fun catching all the snakes and watching them and feeding them as well. If my memory serves me right I believe we had like 32 or 33 of them. We caught most of them in a high line area that ran right behind our homes that had a big drainage ditch on the other side.

Wind is a pain in the rear, but we often have that wind here.

I have missed 2 days in a row because of the wind. Normally I just try to cope with it but 20MPH is too much.

You catch more black for sure, but also white as well. The first 4 I got this year were white and smallest of the 4 was 14". Some really good size for both here most of the time. We do have a 10" min. Have caught a good number of fish over 17", but a good fish here I would say is 12"-15" and anything over that is very nice. Last year was the only year I didn't get at least one 17" or over and just didn't fish mush to chances were not a lot.

WOW, 17 " is a chunk of meat. I caught 26 nice ones today with the biggest 15" and 14" all on my hand ties. And, 2 of them were blacks but throw backs. That 10" minny you all have is a good idea. A lot of people here check the nose and the butt and if the they are not touching then its a keeper. I have even seen some of them use a net on a 7 " cuz they were afraid it may get away.

LOL, now that is funny. Netting a 7" crappie. I have caught more under 10" this year than normal, but our year has been anything but normal. I would guess of all the non keepers I have caught this year (that is about 25-30) only a couple have been under 9" and the real killer is when I get one that is 9 7/8", now that gets you where it hurts.

This year I would guess that only have caught a few that were 16", but most have been 12"-15" and that is pretty normal. Like when I keep say 10 to pick a number, then a couple will be 11" and under, a couple that are about 12" and the rest between 12"-15". So it doesn't take a limit to get a good amount of fillets. Here a limit is harder since our limit is 50. Should say that is just Toledo Bend as the rest of Texas is 25, but since we share this lake with Louisiana it's 50.

Skip your right there.Not a normal year, rain all October and a colder than usual winter. This year we even don't have any lily pad showing up on Caddo yet. One day you can do nothing right and catch a boat load the next you have trouble buying a bite. No wonder I talk to myself so much. Wish that things would calm down. Maybe we could catch more fish then.
