    Default Heading to Ohio

Next weekend it looks like I will be heading to Ohio, to visit some family. Last time I was out there my brother in law took me to an awesome store in Ashland, called fin, feather, and fur. I cant wait to go back and get some new tying supplies. I have basically been tying with the material I started with, so it will be nice to pick out some stuff I know I will like now.

Yeah I have checked out his site and a few others, but I like to pick stuff out in person if possible. Whatever I cant get while im out in ohio, I will order. Im just so new to this stuff, that until I have tried it, I dont want to order something that im not sure what it is exactly, and then i dont like it when i get it.

I am the same way as you. I have ended up wasting some money on junk. So far I have refused to order any hackle saddles or capes for flies online just because I like to hand pick them and they are not cheap and I don't want $30-$100 going down the drain so to speak because someone just grabbed whatever they had and didn't inspect it before shipping it. There is a couple of companies of hackle I have been wanting to try and I have no local source for so I might end up having to order them online though.

If I see something new on an online site such as crazyanglertackle.com or any other site I regularly order from I will check it out locally if the price difference is worth ordering online as well. I am like 99% of the people that tie on here I have a problem and spend WAY too much on materials! :D I have several chenille colors I have never used as well as marabou colors.

Yeah, right now I'm looking for some barred rock orange hackle.
Some of the hackle is really junk and I don't want to pay big bucks and not see it first. I've got way more maribou and chenille than I'll ever use. I keep thinking, someday THAT will be what I want to use, then revert back to using what I know works:o Oh, well, sure makes for a pretty tieing area

I have been to Fin, Feather & Fur twice... really nice place. Bring your pole - ice should be gone by then!

When I first started tying flies i was the same way. I wanted to handle everything. There is only 1 place that I'll order saddles, capes and skins from now without seeing it and that's Conranch Hackle.

When I wasn't sure what I needed for tying certain flies I'd call Denny or his daughter Liz and they'd help me out. I've never been disappointed in their product yet.

For barred rock orange hackle you're gonna be looking at a dye job check with Dyed Grizzly Dry Fly Rooster Hackle Capes point your mouse over the pic and you'll see it better or have them take a photo of one and email it to you.

Everything I've got from him is top notch products. Even better than expected. Lightning fast shipping as well.
