Thanks, but I actually found the idea on the web somewhere. I tied several, some are on Daiichi curved #10, Mustad caddis offset #8, and some larger ones on Eagle Claw Aberdeen #6 that I bent into a slight curve shape.

Very nice,the way the body is segmented reminds me of a waxworm or meal worm.It has possibilities tied on a small jighead,a 1/64 or smaller.

Yeah, the segmented look is what caught my attention. I wanted something to look like caddis flies or mealworms and the rubber band works like a charm. I wind the thread from the eye down the shank to the curve and wrap around a rubber band. I then go back toward the eye and stop. Take the rubber band and wind it slightly overlapping until you get back near the eye. Tie off and create a head with dubbing or whatever you want. It is super easy and fairly quick to tie. I have thought about doing the same on some jigheads without collars, I just need to get some.

Try tying the same pattern with strips from a clear latex nursing glove. It will really look like a maggot then. Good job.

Caddis fly emerger patterns, very effective for trout here. Even work on steelhead.

The bottom two work well here for anything but crappie and gills. I think if I could actually catch crappie and gills it might make a difference.

Rubber bands, elastic, celephane, fishing line, wire, twine, larva lace, craft lace, boondogle, bead lace, jelly cord and probably 100 other things to make those ribs. And yes, you start the wrap from the bottm after tying in the material from either the top or just above where you want the wraps to start.
