    Default Modified Zonker Fly

Modified is the key word here. I gave it a shot after someone on here suggested it and I can't seem to get the thought outta my head. I don't have any mylar so used tinsel chenille for a body wrap. Tried the hot glue approach just for sh!ts & giggles..... doubt I will try that again! Arghhhh! Anyway here's what came out...... Top 2 are 1/16 with a XL hook, not sure size. Last is 1/8 with a sickle.

They look pretty darn good in the fish tank... this hardwater is killing me!!! Out of the mouse gray zonkers or would have made one with that on the top side. Also thought about leaving the strip longer than the hook bend - have seen the fly both ways - but seemed way too long of a tie unless I was targeting bass with them. Could have used a thread neck, but like the chenille neck better. Not sure about the red tho...

Looks good I have been playing with some zonker strips lately as well they look so nice in the water. I have been trying to come up with something to cover or use to make the leather strips look like a lateral line as well. Nice thinking! I have an idea to use some turkey feather fibers but I haven't tried it yet.

    Thanks everyone!

Jubs, that rabbit has some action to it!!!! I can see me tying ALOT more with it in the future, but the price of it is nutso! I was happy to find whole rabbit skins and cut my own. I will be making a trip to the craft store and get the other color they have and maybe another white - cut in 2 - and see if I can dye an olive and light blue color. BTW, another thought was to run some wide (Christmas tree) tinsel up the body with the strip.

Hays & OSJ, Steal away, would love to see some different takes on it to steal back. I couldn't get my mind around how to tie off up by the head if using a body under it, hence the chenille neck and metalic thread to cover up/blend in my slop. :D Jiggy - if I remember right, you were the one who put the poison in my brain while searching for a shad shape...... Thanks!
