Default Ok here are my Peacock Herl Patterns

Here are most of the applications I use herl on. The two bigger jigs have a collar of herl right behind the head. The one with a black head is not a jig but I use it as such. Usually tie it above a standard crappie jig. Just a little tuft of rabbit hair for tail. Herl is then tinseled and wired. The 1/100 jigs are only wired. Wire is so thin that camera not picking up very well The green headed one with barred marabou is just wired. The neck hackled chorme is tinseled and wired.

I am glad you brought up peacock herl cuz I got quite a bit of it in my care package from LedHed and I didn't know what to do with it. Your ties look great, Kinda has a junebug color. I will try it but on a 1/32 jig. Don't think I can even see a 1/100th.
Man, I am really getting far far away from my first intentions of "only make a couple different styles and colors". That's history.
    It ain't nuttin but luck.

Now you need to tie a few up using only peacock herl for the body and peacock sword for the tail. It is absolutely the best fly I have ever used for trout. This last summer I had pretty good luck with it tied on a 1/64 and 1/100 jig for trout too. It does start to fray after a couple fish but it keeps on catching fish, sometimes better than the nice neat original tie. I have never wired it though, all I do is wrap it from eye to bend wrapping it with thread and then again back to the eye again wrapping it with thread again. Only way I get it to turn out right wrapping it around the thread is to use 3-5 strands at a time on a single wrap from the bend to the eye.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.
