Well he is my son, but a child, not hardly, LOL! He is a Green Beret and 41 years old. He has been really good about the whole thing and his attitude has been great too. I still cuss that IED and all, but if it had gone off right it would have killed him. It was a shaped charge type.
We or I lost count on surgeries as he had so much done and from just above his knees the burns were very bad. I think part of the reason he's had so much trouble since he decided to have them amputate his lower leg is that the skin is so thin from the burns. If you count all the wound care they call surgeries then it is probably getting close to 40. Also the reversal from the colostomy bag back to regular is no pick nick either.
One of these days he will need to have some reconstruction surgery to replace his buttocks too, but that is down the road. We just want his leg to get so he can wear that nice new leg all the time.
