Hays47 made a post with some hackles pics and i am trying my hand at it cuz I think they look fishy. My ? is: How do you run your thread over the hackle without wrapping down the hairs. Do you start the feather at the head or the hook end?
I am thinking about tying the stem at the hook end then running the thread to the head, making a few rounds then wrapping the feather towards the head and over the thread trim it then tie it off with the whip finish. How do any of you do it? I have the same problem with the chenille body. I like it to stay fluffed up, not wound down with thread.
Here is a hackle I just did. Nothing like hays47 posted "YET"
