Your post is interesting because I was fishing today and I happened upon an old fishing pal of mine. We fished side by side and he kicked my but with white trimmed with red 1/32. I had one white and pink 1/16. He caught 20 or 30 and I wound up with 11 keepers. So I am ordering some white powder paint tonight.
BTW the fish were suspended at 22 ft. over 35- 38 feet of water.
    It ain't nuttin but luck.

White tail red body is the go to color here for crappie.

As for white being a determining factor, maybe, but I personally think that experience, feel, method of fishing and other factors play a much larger role than color in a lot of cases. Sometimes color makes all the difference but in normal situations a person who knows what they are doing can catch fish on bare hooks before someone using the "best" expensive lures and has no clue will catch anything.

Of course if you have the wrong color type for the situtation you are fishing in no amount of experience will compensate for it.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

If this lake is pretty clear (Clear here for us) and the sun is out my first color is Silver/Lt. Blue/White and have a few customers that only buy that combo every year. It will work other time too, but especially well under the conditions above.

I am in agreement. Although my buddy used mostly white, he was very particular on his depth. He gave me a lesson on getting the exact depth by marking the line at 20 ft and then adjusting instead of guessing. 2 feet off and your out of luck yesterday. But I tied several white/red last night for today..Ray

Have had good trips using white in the past. A friend and I caught a bunch using pink head/white body and tail dragged real slow across an almost featureless bottom. Glad he didn't listen to me. I use a lot of silver or gray lately, but lookin back I've had several days where white did very well. Better with some flash or angel hair mixed in.
