I too like that you didn't trim the ends and that is the way to have a good looking tail. Make sure you have a good size (length wise) base of thread wrapping well on the hook shank before you tie on your materials.

Ditto! The secret is in the base layer of thread flat waxed nylon and a smidgeon of hard as nails before you put the Kip on. Remember "Less is more" when tying jigs.
