for eye paint, I always use testers enamel or acrylic in the tiny jars, they have the opaque quality needed for eyes, and it is thick enough not to run. never had any negetive reactions using it on powder paint either, just let it cure a couple days before you clear coat tho.

Crystal chenille and tinsel chenille are looking and working very good for me lately. You might look into some flash or angel hair for a bit of shimmer in the jig. Red angel hair that I'm using is thin enough to flow along with the maribou. I'll be ordering a bunch of stuff from Crazy or someone soon but I had to get off the ground. Just my two cents.
I am in the same boat... BPS is so close to my house if I need something I don't like to wait to get it shipped. I know it cost too much and I will be making a nice order online soon.

Ok I just had to weigh in on this one. I live in the middle of a forest out in the middle of nowhere. I am 47 miles away form BPS and live 48 miles from Winona, Tx. I would have to take haf a day off fishing to hit BPS or I can call Flat fish and save gas money and time. Crazy ( Flatfish ) is about 30% less than BPS Ships fast and is a member of this forum. He also has a better selection and if we don't use him we might loss him.

Now as for the eyes I am a old watchmaker and made my eye dotters out of 6 and 8 guage copper wire that I turned on my lathe. You could use a electric drill and a fine file or emeory board to do the same thing. By doing this you can make a custom dotter and the material is so cheap that you can make a bunch for very little cost. For the paint I use Vaspar enamel White, Black, Red, Royal Blue, and Yellow. A small can is cheap and goes along ways.

I buy yarn from the hobby section of WALMART for my body section of my jigs. I am currently tying some 1/16th oz jigs in medium olive with olive marbou tails. I paid $2.00 for 364 yds of medium THYME colored yarn. That will last the rest of my lifetime and my kids.
