    Default Plan B Jig

Tied this one last evening. Attempted a chenille body that wasn't going to work, so I broke out some Holoshimmer to finish up.

    Materials:

    • 1/16-oz. minnow head jig with #4 hook.
    • Turkey feathers - bright yellow.
    • UTC Ultra Thread (olive) - 140 denier.
    • Sulky Holoshimmer - sliver metallic.
    • White acrylic paint for eyes and basecoat.
    • Black acrylic paint for eyes.
    • Maybelline Nail Polish for head paint -Go Go Green.
    • Devcon 2T Epoxy for topcoat.
    • Flymasters (Wapsi) Flashabou Accent - fluorescent chartreuse/pearl.

I like it, should have a good profile when wet. One thing I "try" to do is to taper the body down towards the tail if just using thread or tinsel.... fat at the head and thin at the tail, but that's just me. That will for sure catch fish as is!!

That color works very well to create olive-colored heads on smallmouth bass jigs. I've stocked up on it.

I've personally found that white crappie in my nearby reservoir (Eagle Creek) do like variations of greens and yellows combined with holo metallic bodies.

Looks good to me. Nice color combo. I too taper the body toward the feathers making it fatter toward the head when using a thread type wrap. That head color is a little like the color I use on one I have good luck for Crappie, a powder paint color in Baby Bass.
