    Default Dan Vise

I recently purchased the Dan vise at Orvis. After many years of tieing with
a cheapie vise I LOVE this vise. One of the features I really like is the rotary
feature as I tie lots of chenille body jigs. Another feature is the cam jaws.
It is very smooth ad really locks the jig in place. You can bend the hook and still not change the position of the jig! I don't use the bobbin rest or the material holder, but they are included anyway.
You won't go wrong if you decide to purchase the Dan Vise.

look at the griffin vice. I'm a dealer for them. If I can help you out let me know. I tie with the odessey cam vice and love it. A couple of other board members also use this vice, like Atticafish for one.

I have a Danvise as well I like it. I have large hands so I also bought the jaw extension for it so I had some more room to work with. For the price it's hard to beat this vise. Some day I would like to try something like a PEAK and see the difference but for now it serves its purpose well. Just tied up some size 14 flies (the smallest hook so far) and it held them like a champ.

    Default Griffin Patriot Cam

I'm with laserdoc on this one. I bought the griffin patriot from him. I love it! I'm a newbie at this thing, but this vice is so simple to use, even an old cross eyed guy like me can use it. I had the vise two days from the day I ordered it. And it is American owned & American made!!

    TxRebel,

I was in your position about a month ago as I was just getting started in jig tying. I researched and researched on vises and asked alot of guys on this forum their thoughts. Skiptomylu was a BIG help to me with everything and he recommended a couple of good quality vises and I went with the Peak Rotary vise. Wow! What a sweet vise. It is incredible and I absolutely love it and am extremely happy I went with that vise. I also looked at the Danvise but didn't want all of the plastic parts that come on it. That is just my thoughts on the Danvise however as you know there are alot of people on this forum that love their Danvise so I'm not bashing the Danvise by any means, but for me I thought that the Peak was alot better (it is more money however). The Peak vise is also made in the USA and has a lifetime warranty. Just my thoughts on it and if you decide to go with the Peak, I would recommend going through skiptomylu as he sells them now. His website is Crappie Jigs Home Page.
