    Default My First Jigs

I started tying last week and caught my first fish on one of mine yesterday.
Here are some pics, I'm going to have to learn how to get better pics of them.
Here's a link to the fish I caught

Looks like you have done your research!!! And that is one heck of a fish you caught, good job.

Jigs look great, only pick at them I would have is the length of the tails. I keep mine shorter, but thats just me. If the fish like them, don't change them a bit!!!

I did all my research right here and to everyone that has posted info on tying I say Thank You. I agree on the tails but just starting out I thought I would leave them a little long and then I can shorten them till I find what length the crappie want.

Nice fish and great job on your first jigs.Shorten the tails will help reduce some short strikes.

They look good! Only thing is the tail length. Hold your tail material over the hook shank, I want mine showing 1 full length from the lead head to the bend of the hook out the back of the jig, so I give it from the head to the bend then back to the head again and cut it off and tie it in.

Cutting bucktail on the tapered end will kill the action that makes it so good, you want to cut the stiffer ends that attach to the tail. My .02.
