I think the Barbarian may be easier to fish in a top or brush pile with out hanging up as much. I love the sickle hooks but that wider gap gets you hung up a little more IMO.

I love my sickles except the QC but would love to try something new.I'd pay more for a better product if the price is within reason.

Being an EL CHEAPO I'd like to know how much they'll cost in comparison to the other hooks. Lot's of folks don't like Mustad hooks but I've never had a problem with them.
Let's see some cost estimates!!

I like and use all 3. After a snag or 2, and i bend the hook back to shape, the sickle hook from #3 looks like the #2 hook in the picture. Still catches fish and still get snagged in the brush. 8lb test gets it back pretty often tho.
Grump I had these built to try to have the best product available to all panfish people. My constant goal is to improve product that comes from all My process and die experience I guess!
Have used the VMC Barbarian (standard wire), in saltwater only, and am very impressed with the quality of the hook. Based on that – my preference is the VMC over the Matzuo.
The majority of the ultra lite jigs I make are with the VMC 9147 BZ and Mustad BLNs. Have been trying the Matzuo regular bend hook with pretty good results.
