Squirrel tail

How would ya go about preserving a squirrel tail with out messing it up?????
I buy them with the bone still in it,least I think it the bone.
SOme friends always have some durinf hunting season.
I do all my buck tails,but they are easy.

Mike" salt the butt end of the tail after you cut it off",leave the bone in,and leave it to dry for about 24 to 48 hours"some where fly cant get to it "not" outside if possible for that first 2 days"garage it"!Then dye it w/ koolaid,or a professional dye of your choice"
You can skin it back off the bone"make sure you salt it good and let it dry afore turning it hair side out in 48hrs.most think its easier to work w/ the bone in's all"...WHAD SHE SAY:D"he"he"

I leave the bone it. Use salt and borax to cure it.

I just put them in a freezer bag and toss them in the freezer. Use a gallon baggie so they remain straight. I leave the bone in. Works for me.
