now that I started tying I wish I saved allot of the feathers when I used to hunt I would have an awesome selection of duck, pheasant and other bird feathers not to mention more rabbit skin and squirrel tail I could use in a life time. If only I knew than I would be tying jigs now.....

That makes two of us Doc!!! WhenI was in high school, I'd put my Remington
1170 in my buddy's trunk (try that now!! You'd have the FBI, and swat teams teams all over the place!) then after school I'd walk the tracks back to
my house.....about three miles. It was a rare day I didn't have 3 or 4 rabbits, a couple of pheasants, occasionally a duck, sometimes a coon or
turkey!!! I did use some squirrel tails to make Mepps type spinners. Ah, life
was good then and cheap!! A box of #6 was 2.45 a box for good stuff!
My 1170 was 189.95 brand spankin new!! A lot of money back then.

Crappiekiller3- you had me scratching my head for awhile. I used to be a big hunter and gun collector. Still have a few but have sold off 80 % of my collection.

Now I knew my guns backwards ,forward side ways any way you wanted to look at them.
If you were using a pump it was an 870 a semi auto a 1100. As far as I know Remington never made a 1170. They did make a 1148 which was a forerunner of the 1100. Also in 1987 they came out with the 1187 which replaced the 1100.

By the way I amazed my school bus driver how fast I could shuck my school clothes and put on my hunting clothes. Get gun and beagle and out the back door of house. Bus stopped on both sides of park we lived next to. I was hunting by the time he stopped on the other side of park. About 150 yards was the distance between stops.

You are absolutely correct!! It was an 1148 auto, vent rib and weaver 3/4 choke. I don't know where I got 1170 from? Could it be that my 70 year old
hard drive got confused? I haven't hunted for twenty years and couldn't take the walking now. I used to walk 5 or 6 miles sometimes tracking pheasants after a 2-3 inch snowfall. I still have an .410/.22 over and under,
a .20 guage pump and several handguns loaded ready to use if needed.
