Thread: Announcing a Smallie jig swap

Very cool to have a smallie drawing added in and very nice gesture...

Well guys, got out today for about a half hour on break. Tied on the UG "meat whistle" and did get one decent size fish for my section of the river.



Didn't have much time and was the only jig i tied on..... tomorrow is another day. Pretty confident i can get a pic of a smallie with EACH of your guys jigs planted in mouth, these are some ice jigs!

Fished again today....

Tied on AZ's creature looking bait - man, does that thing handle nice! What is that head style, really like it and may have to find me some. Pretty heavy head to cast good and the xtra legs slow the fall once in the water. The rockbass seemed to like it as well.....




Did get 1 scrapy smallmouth as well, wasn't all that big, but HE thought he was....



2 jigs down, hope to get out again tomorrow.

Never have carried a tape measure with me out wading, need to start. Here's my best guess - i measured the bottom section of my pinkie, then copied it across the length of the fish in the pic. Came out between 13.5" and 14" Not quite CK3's 7lber, but sure beats the heck out of playing solitare and eating lunch in front of my computer at work. :D

That was a 1/8 oz tapered Tube Jig without collar from Grandpa Bob.It has a size 1 sickle,Great deal for 50 for $4.00,lol.I really like them because you can throw them so far.Great pics.Glad to see one of my brainstorms doing some work.

Tapes....

Look in your local hardware emporium - Stanley makes some small tapes - about 3' total tape length and very flexible that aren't real expensive. The ones I have have a loop on them for use as a key fob, or could be attached to a lanyard, etc. I've picked up several and have one in each of my boxes.

Lunch in front of the 'puter.....

Don't I know it....if I had a stream as pretty as yours - I don't know if I'd ever get back to work - 'specially if the fish were biting.

I passed your pic to a couple of guys I work with - had given each of them a pair of my swap jigs....they were most interested in it.....alas - smallie season is still over a month away yet.....

Here is a pic of a smallie I took last summer - 15.75" - by a bridge column on a small stream in N Iowa....the jig in the fishes mouth is the pattern I used for my other swap jig - but was a 1/32 oz head.....
