I have tried different things to get a shad body shape but without much luck. I will try a couple more ideas but just about ready to go back to the old reliable chenille wrap!!

Len, some ideas would be to add hackle or other feathers for a belly and dorsal fin. This gives the illusion of a shad without having to make a body shaped like it. The clouser minnow simple uses hair and feather to make it look like a minnow/shad.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.
Len, I tried several ways to make the shape with no luck either. But here's what I ended up doing that looks "almost" right...... I tried to tie in all my tail material on the bottom of the jig, even leaving my cut ends all the way up to the head. This built up the belly of the jig and I just used a drop of flex glue after I added in each tail material. After the tail was done, I added 1 piece of doubled up ultra chenille to the belly to make it just a bit bigger, then wrapped the whole mess in chenille. I may have broken a record for "most different materials in a jig" with this one..... gotta see it to believe it.
I spend way too much time thinking about this! lol Maybe a touch of OCD!! :D I had some time while my machine was running at work, so tried to put the shape I wanted into a CAD program, but did it simple without rounding all the corners or to scale. The led behind the head would be flat sided so you could wrap chenille to the right shape.... Now I just need a mold craftsman.....
I like the shape of that mold design. It would be interesting to see how a jig head like that would wrap.Great idea !!! Now I want one.
AtticaFish,
My jigs are in the mail and should be there in 2 - 5 days.
AF.....Nice CAD illustration. If you take a 1/16 tube insert an flatten it out you get a nice minnow profile. I have made some and put the mylar around the flattened tube jig. The front part is tricky. That was what my swap jigs where going to be but I didn't have enough mylar. Thanks AtticaFish for doing the swap.......Ifish

atticafish sorry I haven't got back to you I called my buddy in Portland about the battery heated rod the only one that he remembers was similar to a hand warmer . But that has been many years ago as far as using nonstick spray on your fishing rod you may just want to try it. Also try WD-40 I like your mold design I would like to see some jigs made from it. Thanks for letting me know that you received my package I hope you enjoy some of the stuff in there bob.
