    Default New forum?

I too noticed the Jig Swap forum on CDC.
I hope this will develop into multiple swaps and tiers will have their choice
of varied swaps to participate in.
    Waiting to see what develops

I hope I get this right in words:
1-5 people sign up to host between the 20th and 25th of the month and their themes and rules if any, and they can all be different themes or can all be crappie themes with different rules. Swaps can be all crappie, different species or whatever the Meister wants to do. The number of tiers is also SET and only changed if the number who want to tie is not accommodated and the swap Meister agrees to increase the number of tiers.
On the 25th we sign up to do the swaps, sign up ends at the end of month.
If a swap fills up, sign up for a different one with a different person.

No one does more than one swap unless they are not filled. If not filled then anyone can do as many swaps as they want. Yes you can sign up for multiple swaps but your first choice will be the first one you get. All participants are locked in by the 5th unless arrangements are made with swap Meister's.

If a niche is not filled then another swap can be started at anytime by anyone, but this has to be a non crappie swap theme. All monthly swaps are pre sign up on the swap Meister thread. Those who do a swap may be different than the order but only if a person doesn't want to host at that time. In other words, those who have signed up to host have first chance at hosting any given month. If they don't want to the next person is given the option and so on.

This keeps it simple, if you don't want to tie that specific jig, don't sign up. If you don't want to 30, sign up for a different one. It also hopefully allows for enough spaces for everyone who wants to tie to do so every month. I would however recommend limiting the number of first of month swaps to something. I don't think we have 100 people who want to tie every month but I could be wrong.

Changes in time lines and anything else are made by the swap Meister at their discretion. But don't abuse the POWER.:D

Just my 2 cents or maybe my 1/100th gill jig but there you have it.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

Get a willing group of participants together, tie a few jigs, put them in the mail. Makes no difference if you have tied for years, or for days. All these rules and demands are going to keep some folks from even reading the posts in the future. Keep it simple, keep it enjoyable, and let's stop being so demanding. We are tying jigs, not running a corporation. I have to follow rules at work. Tying jigs is not my job, but I will continue to do my best to get jigs mailed in a timely manner if I choose to participate in any more swaps. All the nonsense leads me to believe all are not welcome.
    Thats a little double talk!
This thread is completely needed. Many who want to join can't get it. You can't open it to everyone as we may be tying a hundred jigs. No one knows exactly who wants in, cause when the number or tiers get filled the others just loose out.
The problem is the swap often fills in one day! That's the problem and where most of the complaints are.
The only way to sort out the problems -you admitted there are some - are to discuss them. Hence the thread herein!!!!!

That is why we should have more than 1 swap going at one time. If we are going to tell the swapmeisters how many they have to allow in their swaps we are going to chase off tyers. Yes more people wanted in the one that is going on, that is why the next swap should have been started immediately. We have a list of people wanting to host swaps and people wanting to swap. Some people want to host large swaps and some want to host small ones. Some people want to tye in large swaps and some want to tye in small swaps. The answer should be to try to find a way to make all tyers happy, not chase them off.
I think that first person starts their swap. If more people want in start another swap. There will be other problems that arise and they should be dealt with on a case by case issue.

I will say this: I do not want to see anyone dropping out and not doing the swaps just because someone didn't get to do one last time or doesn't get in. There has to be a way to do this to at least make most of those that want to do it happy at least some of the time.

Only way I can think of to make sure everyone gets in each at least once in a while is this:
Everyone signs up that wants to tie for next set of swaps
Swap meisters take the number of tiers they want
    Everyone ties their jigs
Those who don't get in go to top of list for next time.
When everyone has tied, a new list is made, either by order of sign up or by random.

    I do see the drawbacks:
Could lead to a LOT of swaps going on at one time.
Not enough meisters, people still have to wait but at least get to get into one next time

I do know this: It would be a shame to start losing members because of not getting into a swap.

Here is a wild idea as well. you can post a week in advance that the next swap will start taking applicant on such and such a day and this can be done while the current one is ending. so that people have time to see the swap and notice that the swap is going to start. this makes it so you can make plans to check the forums and have no excuse why you didn't have time to see the forum post.

How about this:: 1 swap with say 2 swapmeisters? Something like this:: 1st swapmeister takes the first 20 sign ups and the 2nd swapmeister takes the next 20? You could split the tyers up 50/50 between the swapmeisters. (Just some rough numbers thrown in there..........)

I would imagine that some people sign up for a swap because of who has already signed up....ya know they like the jigs a particular person ties. Maybe this doesn't happen, but I figure it does.

Good point, I imagine it does happen or has at least been a thought when someone signs up.

That's a BIG reason I get into the ones I choose. I do like the smaller swaps, but would do a larger one if I start seeing alot of new people (like the last panfish swap, lots of new blood in that one) or many other people I already know make "good stuff" is signed up.
