    Default Redrock

The forum has been pretty quiet this fall, so I wanted to get this out and see if I could get something started.

I finally got a chance to get out yesterday, so I headed down to Redrock. The fishing report said marina bay, so that's where I went. Saw lots of people fishing on and around the docks, but the only fish I saw were tiny. I caught a few out away from the docks near a drop off, but they were small too. I did talk to a coupe people fishing near the docks and they said they were catching some keepers, but you have to work through the little ones.

I left Redrock and crossed the road to Roberts Creek. I just headed for the nearest brush pile dropped a jig and caught an eleven inch crappie. I caught two more in the next hour and then it was getting dark. I wanted to try using a submersable light, so I set the anchors and the light and jigged around the edges of the light. After about an hour I caught one more nice crappie and one big blue gill. I probably caught four of five small ones too, but overall I wasn't impressed with the light. Maybe it's late in the year for the lights? I'd never used one before.

Does anyone around here use the submersible lights?

Over all it was a great evening to be on the water...

I've been hitting BC after coming back from Missouri fishing. Been having some pretty good luck on minnows. Last Tuesday, got home about 5:30, headed to BC and had 8 nice crappy by 6:20, and ran out of minnys. Biggest was 12 1/4, smallest was 9. Since then, I've been out several times, but not for long. Caught 12, 8 and 15 keepers. I'm headed out tomorrow (I think) before sunrise.

I've never used a light, but have been curious about them.

Thanks for the replies Pchjerker and Gunner! Sounds like I need to try something diferent to keep up with you two! I'm having a good time just being out there trying though.

At Roberts I hung close to the new ramp instead of heading east where the other boats were. Did the same thing again this Saturday with the exact same result. Four crappie and one nice gill. I took my Dad out and he had a good time. Next time I'll move around a little more!

I haven't been to BC at all this fall. Just haven't had much fishing time this year.

I didn't try the light this week. We left when It got dark.

I lived in Oklahoma for a few years, in another lifetime... anyway, I remember seeing people on the mile long bridge over Texoma with generators and lights hanging down to the water. That was 30 years ago and I'm just now trying it for myself.

lights and bridges do go together as well as boat docks for night fishing crappies. usually works better in the summer time.Headed to Roberts again tomorrow and of course theyre calling for wind. Man I 'll i want is one come fall day to take advantage of the bite.

I'm headed for Roberts in the morning! It shouldn't be hard to recognize one another, we'll probably be the only boats in sight! My boat is a red Lund with an old Johnson 40. I ussually have a yippy little dog with me, but she's staying home tomorrow...
