Thread: ohio river around Evansville,In

Has anyone fish around Evansville ,IN on the Ohio river for crappie or Bass? and where is a good place to start if so ?

No one know's anything about Ohio river fishing here in southern Indiana around Evansville?

I fish it down this way, but not around Evansville. It's a under utilized body of water, and intimidating at times. But full of crappie nobody chases.

I lived in Evansville for a year and a half. Never fished the river in that area. I drove down to Hovey Lake once. Looked like some outstanding crappie water, but never went back with the boat. The other area I liked and did fish were the strip pits up around Boonville. Only caught a few fish in the limited trips I made. I mostly drove back north to Monroe or Cataract Reservoirs, as they were really my home lakes that I knew really well.

The OHIO river is Loaded with Catfish in the deep water and around Mussel beds that will pull the boat upstream like you was water Skying .

Fished the Cannelton Pool to the east of Evansville. There are some nice creeks in that area that hold crappie. Evansville pool is kinda barren !
