    Default Where's the DNR ?

Last few weeks there have been alot of people out fishing and I've seen alot of people take over their limit or take a limit and be back in a hour or less to take another. I know the CO's are spread thin , but why have laws if they are not enforced ? I called the TIP hot line on two guys that were working on their third limit of the day and was told the CO would have to catch them in the act and they would try to get someone out there, no one showed up. I'm sure we've all seen this, it's just a pet peve of mine. On a side not the DNR was gateing/ closeing the road at hogsback just past the big oak tree, said to many people tearing it up down there with big trucks. So add another 100-150 yds to that walk . Okay I'm done ranting, moving on, I need some sleep.

I agree with you on the over harvest of fish. I was listening as some one was complaining about the size of fish falling off as he was cleaning bluegill 5 " long and crappie not much bigger and talking about cleaning 1200 fish for the 3 days of fishing. He thinks he is the only camper that does that when there are dozens of campers/fisherman doing the same thing at this lake. DNR Enforcement is stretched pretty thin and they often have to cover multiple counties. I thought DNR should have put harvest limits on some lakes for bluegill. SOME...not all lakes. Used to be you could not over harvest panfish, that theory is changing.

got to be dogwood! DNR was checking fishermen last Sat. In boats and all they were checking was, license, life jackets, and throw cushion with rope on it. Didn't even ask for fish. That was on dogwood. I will quote a former head of DNR that I know, as he commented our DNR has lost the meaning of conservation and has become more politcal and a police agency. Heck, DNR decided NOT to pass the deer hunting with high powered rifles, and one politician created the bill and had it passed in 3 days in state legislature bypassing the requests of DNR and now DNR is left with the headaches of policing it. Don,t get me started on DNR. Lol

If your boat is over 16 ' long you have to have a throw thingy with a rope on it...can't think of the name of it this morning, lol. I use a square flotation cushion with 25' of rope on it to be legal.

Last month, the wife and I got out for a drive, and drove around Patoka and then thru the State Park. There were at least 25 teams of DNR with their dogs training in the wildlife food plot fields also using shotguns shooting over the dogs as they trained them. All German shepards. DNR actually has more police powers than most law enforcement agencies in this state. So yes, they are spread thin.
