This just blows my mind! Really < 5 ft? I'm a complete amateur so thus is an honest question. I just can't believe it in this cold of water. You guys in North or south. Does it make a difference?

Also, what's the reason for them being so shallow?

I am heading out tomorrow in my yak - Cabin Fever trip-- and have rigged up a bobber rig for the 1-4 ft brushy areas and a jig rig under a bobber trying the 3-6 ft levels. I will start shallow then work deep. It is calling for a rain/snow mix but I am confident I will catch some.

    Great topic.
