    Default Bite picking up

Put in at a company owned lake yesterday afternoon to bass fish. This lake is never mentioned as holding crappie and I have only seen one in twenty years but I knew there had to be some tucked away. Despite the frontal conditions the bass bite was great even hitting top water. I noticed some fish on the SI in a tree extending from the bank. Thinking they looked like crappie, I quickly picked up a crappie rod and made a cast which ended my bassin day.
We caught over twenty in the few minutes before dark. All were between 9 and 13 inches. We were swimming jigs through brush and color was not critical. Buddy kept a few of them but most went back for breeding stock.
I only went fishing because my buddy had the afternoon off and seldom gets to go. We caught bass 2 to 5lbs on top and crappie with a few good laugh's mixed in. Don' get any better.
