Both of them can be rude, inconsiderate of others, and a general pain the butt.
Since I do both, guess I don't see that many differences anymore. Biggest difference I notice is that there is a lot more people fishing for crappie that will crowd another angler. For example, I was out crappie fishing 3 weeks ago, have two guys crowd me on a stretch that didn't have another boat for a mile. I move, and they come right back to crowding me.
Bass guys do the same things sometimes, especially people fishing tournaments, but not always is it a tournament fishermen. I think it is more just a lack of common sense, and really think people feel entitled to fish wherever they want, regardless of what they are fishing for. Don't remember it being that way when I was a kid, guess it is just the society we live in now.
I don't think crappie, bass, white bass, catfish, etc fishermen should worry about the differences between them. Maybe worry about using common sense on the water and being courteous to others out fishing. Stay more than a long cast away from other boats (obviously there are stump fields that a long cast isn't even possible). If I can throw a crappie jig on a ultralight and hit your boat you are too close.
Just my .02.
