Thread: night time yet?

I haven't tried at night yet this spring. I have been finding them on the banks yet, but wouldn't be surprised if you could still draw some in around the lights. Especially those females that are hanging around back off the banks either pre or post spawn.

it was slow going but managed a few eaters. had to fish till 1:30 to get 30. biggest was only 13.5. did way better this morning tossing jigs at shore. spawn in full is in force, males very black. seen gills on their beds too.

Hooterville is in the far NE corner of the state, slab hunter.

oh, ok, I didn't know what part of the state you was from, I'm down here on the IN/KY line and thought about running lights to see what happens

it works down there too brother. lights will even attract fish in muddier waters like the river. do give lights a try. if there is one thing in crappie fishing im sure about, its light help catch fish!

dont have to be much light either if water is clear. i drew a school of minnows in with this, spur of the moment invention. i was at the cottage and the light was at home, so i improvised. it floats by the boat or tied to log jamb.

hey, that's cool. do what got to do to getter done. I need to try it one night, is there anytime of night seems to be better time?

it varies a bit from lake to lake around here. i have one lake that goes turns on at dark, and another that goes later, like 11-12. give the light time to draw in bait. usually if you draw in minnows the crappie arent far behind. lanterns hung over the side were the norm when i was a kid. i hated breathing the buggs all night, and the smell of gramps's citronella oil. with the colored LEDs you dont draw bugs like white light does!
