    Default Brookville Lake

Hey guys! So I'm new to fishing within the last 12 months, and one would think I started yesterday. I have spent countless hours watching youtube videos, reading blogs, talking to ol' timers at the lake, and actual rod time on the lake, but have very few fish to show. I could use the same bait, be in the same location, and hold my mouth the same way as the guy in the next boat over, but only catch 1/10th of the crappie he does. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Last weekend I was out all morning and caught 1 crappie between jigging and minnows, while my buddy on another boat caught >30 crappie.

One issue I know I have is I haven't totally mastered my fish finder. I purchased a new one last year with down imaging. My problem is when I see a nice spot with fish on the finder, I can't seem to actually locate and stay over it.

ANY advise would be greatly appreciated!!!!

    Ben

triangulate as soon as you mark them. or like said make some marker buoys. clear plastic bottles are great, because other people cant see them as well. i dont fish that reservoir or id add some area types to try. sounds like walleye would be a better fish to chase there the last few years. it must be loaded from all the reports/pics i have seen.

good luck at the ville barns.

A buoy is very important if you're fishing isolated cover without any easy landmarks. Don't forget to pay attention to the little details, too. Make sure you're not contaminating your bait with foreign scents. I'm also a fan of loop knots, to insure that your bait looks as natural as possible. This, of course, is pertaining to jigs and such, not a minnow rig. Keep at it, they will eventually come! Good luck!
