Well, I actually touched Charlie Brown today with my bare finger, ON PURPOSE! He's doing well and has just a tiny white speck where his other half used to be. Yes, these worms are not going on no hook. They are getting well fed only to be put back into the ground and live happy worm lives. As soon as I see how big they can get and hold one without freaking out. There are two wormy things that get to me-- the slime and the way the curl up and flip around.

I put some pics of "the gang" on my blog, in the post titled worm condo: http://pendletongal.blogspot.com/

take 2 pieces of plexiglass and some 1/2" trim and make a "worm farm". you can watch them crawl through the dirt.

and i would tie some split shot to their tails for further conditioning

That does sound like a fun project, but they seem to really like privacy. LOL-- split shot towing worms, I could see that. The kids and I are going to have worm races before we set em loose. I might have to try that.

I bet you didn't know you could hear them scream when you break them in pieces or when sticking a hook in them, did ya?

Auuugh, that's just gross. Poor worms. Save a Worm, Fish with Fuzz and Feathers.

Did you know sodium earthobate, (a common ingredient in hot dogs and bologna), is salted earthworms?
