I took the raft with a depth finder out in the back of a shallow cove and the temps on Saturday were 44 degrees. I didn't catch anything though. they are letting water out of the lake and it should be back to winter pool by the end of the week. I am hoping to find some fish thru the ice this week. they should be stacked in that warmer water that is trapped under the ice. with this colder weather coming back in it could be april before the ice is all gone. I am wondering how it will effect the early season spawners like the walleye.
Yep,,weather man on channel 59 just was saying Polar Vortex of cold weather was going to last thru at least 1st week of march. This cold weather is beginning to suck. I am thinking that the walleye wouldn't spawn till the water temp triggers them into spawning. But,,some say the sunlite and length of days can trigger it also. I prefer the water temps. I think, when we finally get warm weather,,all heck is going to break loose and everything is going to happen pretty fast this spring as it will be a quick warm up and come super quick.

the north end of the lake where the river runs in should have enough open water to fish under the quaker town bridge. I would think the fish are up that way as we speak.

Thanks for the updates. Cevans, I just checked a 10 day forecast and its barely breaking freezing with teens at night, actually showed snow Sunday and Ice pellets Monday, I was invited to go to Gunthersville lake in Alabama in March unfortunatly work and cash are keeping me home, but with this weather it is sounding better and better!

Brookville still has plenty of ice. I went out on the ice today and caught a few crappie and cats. A week or so ago the water temp thru the hole was 34-38 degrees. Since last weeks warm up and rains the water temp thru the hole this week has been 40-44 degrees. I caught my fish today in as shallow as 8ft of water in shallow timber and shallow breaks on sand to rock transitions.

I was there on Saturday and there was still plenty of ice. The good note is that is was busted up in a few places and had open pockets of water in a number of areas. It was loaded with waterfowl. A good warm windy week, or some more moving water and it won't be long.

I have heard the quaker town marina ramp has some open water to put a boat in but not much. I would think by next week there should be good stretches of open water.

quakertown and below both causeways is open, but you cant go anywhere other than the houseboats at quakertown(and i dont recomend that, they really frown on it). Otherwise she's locked tight.
Still 6-7 inches in most places, snow is just now melting. id say 2 weeks for the whole lake, maybe sooner with high winds and rain.

If anyone gets by the lake today or Monday, a ice update would be appreciated. Hoping to get out Tuesday
