Thread: Looking for help

Well Frank, I'd give you a hand but I am a newbie in that area. I just "experiment" with jigs. When I don't catch anything I always fall back to my old stand by of minnows and bobbers.

Frank, I have used 1/8 oz or 1/64 oz jigs heads that are not bait keepers tipped with Gulp Alive 1" minnows, Black Shad or Emerald Shiners. This works great for me, the key is finding the wood they might be hanging out in. Thread the minnow on as if was going to be swimming, hook up & slowly move it around your structure.

I did forget to mention I am using an ultra light rod and reel with four lb test, no bobber.

Indiana Slab Masters will teach you more in one season than you can learn in 5, maybe 10, years on your own. Don't get me wrong, it leads to plenty of confusion, too.

I've spent many days sitting in a cold, uneventful treestand wondering if the deer where running wild on the other side of the hill. Ever come off the water and know that the fish just weren't biting? You couldn't even snag one while he was yawning. Well, fishing with roughly 30 boats every time out, from novice to pretty darn good, someone will show you that the fish can be caught every day. I'm not sure where exactly you're at, but it sounds like you'd be somewhat close to the Coon, Monroe, Patoka, and as you mentioned, Cataract. There's a nice little starter that would still quailfy you for the Classic.

I know many guys that have jumped in other guys boats for fishing trips outside of the tournaments. I've fished with a few different guys and can honestly say that I wouldn't have ever learned anything from any of them if it weren't for ISM.
