But seriously, I have never really targetted crappie out of state to have a bona fide opinion on that matter. I also cant really say too much about the reservoirs we have in the central to southern parts of this state. Always targetted other species when and if I fished them. Now, I did live in the salamonie area for 15 years.........and had quite a bit of success down there. But I think alot of the northern waters get overlooked on here. Aside from RS and Polecat there are very few guys that report their findings in the northern reaches of the state. But trust me gentleman there are some dang fine crappie to be had up here albeit in natural waters. But be careful when crappie fishing up this way...........you just might hook something that has lots of teeth!!!!!!!!!

I like Brookville Lake. Don't fish many of the others. Monroe would be second and then Patoka.

I like the question, but hate the word best. I think you would have to argue that the two biggest are the best, Monroe and Patoka, but that's because you have enough area that it suits all types of fishing styles. Some may find more pleasure dropping a float next to timber, while another wants to pull cranks over points, humps, and channels. If you're a dock shooter, go to Indy or a private lake, because the COE lakes have them, but I would consider them somewhat limited.

Just as well, one angler may prefer to only chase big fish, while others are quite content pulling in lots of 9's and 10's. My personal opinion is that you won't get the best answer, because the guys that fish that lake are always too tired to type, since they're fishing the best lake.

My Best lake is anywhere I can catch a crappie. I perfer shallow lakes that have docks, laydowns and grass. My favorite lake is a private farm pond full of black crappie. Also like Weiss lake and Kentucky lake.

Also any answer would be based on one's experience. My experience with the lakes in Indiana and other states would be really too limited to have an opinion.
