We all see smaller boats on larger bodies of water everyday. I'll be the first to admit that I have been one of those people. I fished out of a 14 ft Bass Tracker and between the Water Lice and wind, it was dangerous, so I started fishing at night when the water was calmer. Now, there is no way I'd get on any body of water, other than a pond, in a small boat...It just aint safe!! And alot of time it's the larger boats that make conditions unsafe for the smaller crafts. I have a 17 ft fiberglass boat for the past 3 years and I have had many days I got a little nervous in it. We just all need to use good sense and have courtesy for all other boaters, especially the smaller boats.....And wear those PFD's!!

    Very well said TnT!!!!!!!

I fish out of a small boat quite a bit. I learned along time ago that there were certain lakes and weather conditions that just werent suitable for my small craft, at least to be out in the main body of water. Good judgement and sense goes along way.

I have one boat, a 10' flat bottom jon with a 3 hp 1956 evinrude, I'ts what I can afford, had it for 10 years. I fish Missy and Sally alot from spring to fall, also Hoffman and Pike lake even been on Winona ( I don't consider any to be "big" water not safe for small craft). I have even been on Missy during rain and wind and took on water with two people in the boat. I have NEVER felt unsafe or in danger one time. I have even been "rocked" by jerks flying by at high speeds, still no sense of danger. My boat is (here's the key/boating 101), BALANCED. The local paper said he had to much weight in the back, to big of a motor and was sitting to low in the water in the rear. It's not the size of the boat they should restrict on the water it's the amount of common sense, or lack there of. I see nothing wrong with a well balanced jon boat on any of the lakes around here as long as common sense is used. Okay rant off

I too hadnt heard that term before, but I like it. I am assuming that TnT is referring to water skiers and jet skis. Around my neck of the woods most anglers refer to them as "Jet Fleas".

I have fished for 25 years in a 12 footer allweld. I never had a problem and I fish Monroe and all the big lakes. It is 5.5 feet wide with a 15 hp motor and will go anywhere. More laws I think my freedom has been taken away enough. Leave me alone Government.
