My Daughter and I took advantage of the nice weather today and came across some nice fish at Rend Lake this afternoon. Didn't have a lot of time to fish, and Dad was dumb enough to leave the stringer in the car until after he'd caught and released at least 5 as big if not bigger than these... Finally went and grabbed the stringer and took home 6 decent sized fish to fillet out. The East wind made it difficult to cast, but they were holding extremely shallow against the riprap on the shoreline receiving all the wind. Lure of choice was a 1/16 oz Chartreuse roadrunner head with a 2 inch white grub.

Threw back a lot of smaller fish... after my daughter had a chance to say hi, bye, and kiss each one before we threw them back.

End result was a great day with my family, some good fish to eat, and a big confidence boost after several times of getting skunked this year. Thanks to everyone who has tried to point me in the right direction.
