Spillway action?
Anyone know the conditions of Shelbyville spillway? Discharge? Anything biting besides muskie? I'll be off for Christmas vacation (I'm a teacher) on Wednesday and thought about tryin for some walleye. I've never winter fished at the spillway, but I've heard that walleye can still be caught there sometimes when it's cold. Thanks!

RIVER AND RESERVOIR REPORT I use this site to track inflow and outflow. They have had the dam releasing around 1200 cfs since rain came two weeks ago. Looks like they backed it off in the last day or so. Not letting much through right now. The corps typically open the dam around this time of December to bring lake down to winter pool, so I would expect them to start that soon. Last year was odd with the huge rains we received. I think they held the water to limit flooding down river till later. I know I fished the spillway last winter when the walleye/ sauger bite was good, but can't remember which month I fished. I think it was February or March, but I don't remember for sure. Hopefully some regulars chime in. I remember catching several short sauger, and seeing seeing four muskie caught one morning. I also remember wall to wall people.

Hit the spillway today (Wednesday), not much going on. Tried double rigged curly tails on jig heads, white, orange, chartruese. Tried firetiger blade baits and cranks. Nightcrawlers. Sliders. Nothing worked. Caught one thirteen inch walleye on a firetiger blade bait. Only saw one other fish caught all day...a channel cat snagged in the tail. lol. Oh well, nice day out anyway.
