I'm thinking of heading to Shelbyville next weekend with my 10yr old son. I've never fished it before. I'm used to fishing jigs along structure/banks on Lake of the Ozarks. Any advice on general areas of Shelbyville that might be good start to fishing Shelbyville? I'm open to minnows and have a number of cranks if either of those are recommended over working banks with jigs.

And if we can't find the crappie.........I figure white bass would be plan B to keep my son interested. Are they surfacing or schooling in certain areas of the lake to where we can cast at them or should we troll cranks?
