Default Where to start at the Ville

I'm thinking of heading to Shelbyville next weekend with my 10yr old son. I've never fished it before. I'm used to fishing jigs along structure/banks on Lake of the Ozarks. Any advice on general areas of Shelbyville that might be good start to fishing Shelbyville? I'm open to minnows and have a number of cranks if either of those are recommended over working banks with jigs.

And if we can't find the crappie.........I figure white bass would be plan B to keep my son interested. Are they surfacing or schooling in certain areas of the lake to where we can cast at them or should we troll cranks?

From what I have heard, jigs around structure is the way to go. Wish I could help more from my experiences of late but have been getting my honey dos done so I can get on the fall bite.
Lets go soak a line. Pat

Fish the south end of the lake. I mean SOUTH. get back in the coves and use your electronics to find brush piles from 8-18fow. Toss out your buoy maker and drag jigs across. They are holding very tight to structure. And deep...also check for any submerged points. Fish them From shore out to 18fow. Once again, deep. You can also fish the blow downs on the south end with success. Just a smaller average.

Tried it today gobob and cpainter87...man I tried it all. Worked it south of Wolf Creek. Did my homework, thought I had a good plan...nope. Dinks. Not alot of bites. Only the 'wise guys' are catchin' real fish right now IMO. Water temps in low 70's so that's good. Consistent cool nights will help (me anyway). The lake was spectacular today. Definitely better than a day at work. Stay after it...persistence.
