Folks, I may be beyond hope, but I really want to learn how to use my electronics to help find/identify both structure and fish. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not tech savvy...and short on both patience and retention. If I learn how to do something and don't do it again soon-and often- I tend to forget. I'd like to hire someone to go in my boat using my Lowrance touch 7 and teach me how to operate it. I am not looking for someone else's hotspots but would need to write down what I was told about settings, etc. I would just as soon not even fish while doing this-just try to learn. Right now I do not have side scan but plan on getting it before next Spring. I may also upgrade my trolling motor to something like a Terrova. I live in SE Illinois and would like to go out on Rend, Carlyle, or maybe Lake of Egypt to learn-or a lake of choosing of the person teaching. Heck, it might be better to learn on a smaller lake as long as it has decent depth and a variety of structure. I'm close to Newton Lake, so that might work. Can anyone steer me in the right direction? I've heard that such services are offered at KY Lake, but my boat is a little small for that, and it is some distance away. I'm fishing out of a 16' mod V that I'm putting stick steer in this winter-will be running a 25 horse Yammie, so it just isn't a big water boat. If such services can be found, what do you think I might have to pay? Any and all responses will be appreciated.
