Kaskaskia river floaters
I am wondering how many of are members float down the river? People are totally destroying this beautiful piece of the pie!!!! I have had about all I can handle at this point. We spent all day cleaning the banks today. We have got it back to respectable. In a couple of weeks I am wanting to get a group of people together that enjoy the river. I would be willing to have a fish fry for all of those that would be interested. We want to start at the dam and pick up every piece of trash that we can. I heard a story today of a guy at the first bridge up on the road busting all of the beer bottle he could find. Let me know if you would be interested. If I could get a head count it would be nice. Also, what day would be the best? Rant over!!

Until u get the pleasure boaters off of it...its a losing battle. I fish a lot on the kasky from new Athens south and between the boaters and the jumpers the beautiful river I grew up on disgusts me. It is comical though if you're looking for a good time go sit at one of the ramps at dark and watch the drunks try to load their $50,000 gas guzzlers up. Its funny.

I float below the dam, above the dam also. Usually have it to myself and I never go on the weekends unless its cold. I've seen it bad below the dam before but it's a lot better now than it use to be. I would like to thank who ever changes out the garbage bags on the beach past the nice campground and at the first bridge.Also maybe the CPO's could make a few runs in there boats on the weekend and maybe let the tubers know they do monitor south past the dam.

Thanks for the good word! We are the ones that keep it cleaned up the best we can. Kaskaskia river rats on Facebook. We all share the responsibility. We have a great group of people. Looking for more!! Go rats!!!
