    Default Shelbyville Report

Fish are turning on boys. Had a trip saturday and we did pretty darn well. Many people we talked to were skunked or had less than 5 fish all day. What I did saturday was hitting spots I have found shallow males early in the years before and several spots were loaded up with them. Minnows helped us out greatly. Deeper brush piles had nothing on them or 1,2 fish. Hard wood out deeper had a few fish on them but nothing to speak of.... Called my dad and we went to scout for this week after the trip saturday and just wow... was a evening we never wanted to end. Tried a few new areas that I was hoping the fish were moving into and In 2 hours of fishin from 530-730 we had 34 overs and lordy I dont know how many good unders we had. We were spider riggin double minnow rigs over shallow spawning areas and we couldnt keep three rods in the water. Finally ran out of minners and started trolling single jigs and it was same results, only bigger fish. 3-6ft of water was the ticket and males had some good color. This week will be a fun one for those who are out there on the water. As always... I was fishing north.

Great post Birdy! So you're telling me I've got a chance? Lol. Love me some North end feeshing!
Most men spend their entire life fishing, without realizing its not the fish they are after!

I second that report on minnows being a help. Three kids gave me a licking today with there minners. The problem with minnows is when you eat the fish, it tastes "Fishy"

Reel fishermen don't use minners. Haven't had a minnow bucket in so long, them new fangled buckets with a motor on them scare me.

Ah i can concede there is a time n place for em, but i abstain. I prefer to eat fish, not feed em.

We did real good on Jigs today, got a double limit casting black and chartreuse, mostly males. They were pretty shallow 1' -5' some were almost at the bank
