    Angry Theft in Central Illinois

I hate a thief. Our community has been hit by a rash of theft's. By community I mean a population of about 100,000. The MO appears to be, work their way up and down the neighborhoods trying every car door and stealing anything close to the street or unlocked. I talked to several pawn shop owners while looking for a replacement gas tank. The police have already tipped them off bout the rash of thefts. I also found out the pawn shops have to take pictures of the item, the person pawning it, and get their driver license information. They have to post all the information to a website, and the cops search the site for stolen items. Not sure about other states, however in Illinois the pawn shop owners get reimbursed for items recovered by the police. Presumable the thief pays the restitution. Sounds like the state got something right.

As for me, they stole my Minnkota Endura 30" 30 foot pounds trolling motor. They also took my 1950's era 6 gallon Johnson dual hose gas tank. They stopped using the dual hose system in 1957-58. I need to find another tank. If you got one for sale, let me know. They left the 1957 Johnson 18hp motor, but took the gas tank. At least they were kind enough to unstrap the cover, unstrap my bungee cord holding the gas tank in place before cutting the fuel lines off at the tank.

My tank had about 4gallons of gas, mixed with 2 stroke oil. I hope they put it in their gas tank and fouled out the plugs.

Had they gone in the back yard they could have taken my riding mower, push mower, an assortment of garden tools, several gas cans (also full). That stuff lived outside since the tornado took my shed.

    I hate a thief.

If you have a dual hose metal tank for sale, let me know.
    Thanks!

Also looking for recommendations on cables or chain lock systems for outboards. I plan to lock the motor, gas tank, and trolling motor to the boat.

Sorry about your luck!! At least they took the tank! I just got brand new motor and the third day some coward took the gas out of it !!! I looked under the back deck and tank was full so we was good to go! Went out to lake wind howling! Got about a mile from boat ramp motor died!!! I ran battery dead and floated to the dam!!! Got towed back and went home and ran the fuel in to glass jar. Well it ended up being full of water!!! Wish they would of just took the tank!!!!

I had a truck stolen, driven into a field, and set on fire. Then, they wanted to stick me with the tow bill. So, I handed over the title to the truck as payment, after insurance did their thing. I tell you what I have a problem with now. They stole my sense of security...now I have game cameras up in places that no one knows. I check them about once a week. And, I have a "protection" if someone ever becomes braisen enough to come in to see what I have.
