    I live just south of I-80, and caught my first shallow crappies of the year. 7 feet deep in 16 fow. anyone else fishing this far north in il. ?

    I live just south of I-80 also. Not much luck here up north. Fished Mattoon and Shelbyville so far with luck. Where are you fishing up North?

    Ice just went out tonight on our lake (15 acres) and Shabbona is still mostly covered.

    Fishing shadow lake and mazonia so far. Water temp is around 40 degrees surface.

    I have heard shadow lake is excellent. Its private isn't it.

    that's some deep clear water. usually pretty tough fishing. I've had best luck at mazonia at ponderosa lake. hiedeke lake has some big crappies and good shore fishing access too.

    I was unaware that there were any crappie in Heideke planning on going there this weekend and try for some walleye.

    used to be good crappies in heidike.everyone found out and you know what happens.still waiting to see if some no name ponds by me had fish kills.i have heard some horror stories as the ice melts
