Default Has there ever been Shelbyville crappie club

I was just wondereding if there had ever been any kind of crappie club on Shelbyville. One that just have a few tournaments a year for club members just on Shelbyville and dosent travel to different lakes. Would anybody be interested in starting one? Make it a 2 person team. Might be fun and I think it makes you a better fisherman when you are competing.

there has never been one that I am aware of . I mentioned it to the lake biologist when I talked to him about 4 or 5 years ago about putting brush in the lake. Kind of like spfld crappie club does on all the lakes that they fish. I would be all for it but, you don't need to have just tourneys for members. you make it open to anyone that wants to fish it. the club members would be the ones responsible for all the other stuff involved.

Sounds like a plan. but i think you would have to have some club tournaments or you would not get people to join the club. Have some club and some opens. Its getting harder to get people to fish any tournaments.

stinny that's what I was getting at. some members that I have talked to in the spfld crappie club say that if it was up to them they would do away with the open tourneys. Well that is not what you need either, that is a way of maybe getting more members to join. One big reason you are not getting the numbers are the dates and the places of launching. Crappie anglers do not like to spend money on entry fees or high gas prices. Another big thing is late fees on entries. A lot of guys now will go prefish and if they are not on big fish then they wont fish the tourney. so they are looking at why pay money early if im not on big fish. that's just what I have heard at tourneys I have fished that is coming from other tournament guys. But like I said I am all for it. I had heard a rumor about hook it bait wanting to put together a circuit type for crappie tourneys like six or so tourneys a year with a classic at the end. Correct me if im wrong on that pat (hook it Bait). But I like his idea too.

Actually guys i have discussed this with a few on here and have been researching, etc. since the tourney this spring we put on when we were asked to do more if possible. We take care of all the Corps (bait/fish for their aquariums) thus have a good relationship there.

Have discussed with our insurance carrier and can get a 5-6 tourney package for just over the cost of 2 single tourneys. Must sit all dates ahead though.

My thoughts are this and some of you have heard this speech already lol.

6 tourneys total: mar, april, may, sept, oct-----nov classic

$25 tourney trail fee to participate. If we would get 40-50 guys total to join/participate. That would cover the corp required insurance for all 6. And thus we could have full 100% payback tourneys.

Also my thoughts some have liked the idea and some havent. But i would like to see some of the tourneys area specific. Ex. Mar-entire lake. April. Eagle and North may--eagle and south., etc

Also i would not want to see dedicated partners.

All tourneys run out of Eagle also.

Anyway thats my thoughts and it is something that i have worked on and is doable.

We are open to help and take care of all we can. Would like to see some sort of commitee etc. that has some of u veteran tourney guys input if in fact u want to pursue. Just wanted to let everyone know that it is and we have actually laid some of the groundwork.

If a said person is on the committee can they still participate in tourneys ?? not sure I understand the dedicated partners part. if you are having five tourneys with a classic it should be set up to where the two man teams compile a running points. then the 15 or so top teams fish the classic for a bigger pot trophy type thing.. just an idea reguardless I think it is a great idea Pat and after you get your directors or tourney committee together and get all the details worked out and set in stone it will go off with a bang. For your first tourney ever this past spring you had a good turn out and we enjoyed the tourney. sponsors to chip in would be great too. I will be getting a hold of you in the next week. thanks for clearing up the tourney talk too.

Any and all would be welcome commitee or not. I personally dont like dedicated partner for the season. Lets take Team 1 (birdie and his dad) probably preferred partners and team 2 (crappie24 and his boy duff) they both fish as planned tourney 1 & 2 but 3 issues arised and birdie dad and duff both have to work. Birdie and Crappie24 have fished and won/placed in several as a team as we all know. No reason they shouldnt be able to because there prefered partner cant make it. Just thoughts and ideas is all i am throwing out there.

The boat is dedicated meaning at least one person is fishing out of that boat each tournament.

Hope this helps clear up the dedicated partner issue

I'm all for this... would like to see a tournament in June and July. No reason not to. It's nice out then. Maybe a little warm but the fish bite.

You guys went a totally different direction from what I was talking but that's ok. I might get my wife to do the club deal more for fun type tournaments but not for what you guys are talking now, but im glad I brought it up and got a good discussion going on it.
