I have used both Nick from crappie predator and Kyle from All Seasons guide service.Both are very good guides. I've learned a few things from both of them that has helped me catch fish i wouldnt have before using them. I would highly recommend both.

Even if you parked under a bridge, you're gonna catch fish. My thought on that is, how far are you traveling? You could bring your own rig and fish the bridges and try to figure out what corner or abutment and what color works. At that point your totally invested with your time. If I travel very far I Want a good trip.

Your paid guide pays the fuel, handles the boat hookup, put in, and tackle. The major advantage of a paid guide is the experience to know when to leave and where to try next. The bridges may be the best producer that day but if it ain't...then what? He's probably got something else in mind, a battle plan, before he leaves the house. Plus he cleans the fish and puts up the tackle.

A good guide is worth the money...plus a good tip.

The Bridges may not be the Best choice but then I guess it depends on who you are (guide or fisherman) and what you want.

I have hired 5 guides, but Kyle will get any money I spend on a guide from here on out because that is my choice. I just prefer a guide that will get me on good quality fish, show me more than a bridge, teach me, and keep me on the spot and not worry about out fishing me. Anyone knows he can out fish most guys in the country, but it is nice to go with a guide that will take you fishing and not rush to catch a bunch of fish for both of you then zoom off to clean them. To each their own. I have made my choice and it was not made on one trip.

I have also fished with a few guides. Three this year alone. I have fished with Nick four times in the last three years. Each time during different conditions. My first trip with him ended up being one of those windy days that's a little rough on Rend. I remember that main lake brush and stake beds were the hot bite at the time. We could have stuck it out and no doubt got a limit fishing this way. Nick changed his mind loaded his boat and us back up to fish in a nearby Creek. We didn't limit out that particular day but had an absolute blast catching some nice crappie and getting to know Nick. I have since brought my father down three more times. We have fished brush, stakes, creeks, and yes the bridge. Every time was fun! By the way we did finish early when fishing the bridge two years ago. We could have continued to fish, but chose to head in. We only paid for a half day trip that day and went home with a three man limit. I have not fished with Kyle, but have no doubt he is very talented guide. I have seen his tournament results, and read his many positive reviews. I'm also sure they're other talented guides fishing Southern Illinois. I learn new things that make me a better fisherman every time go out with a guide. I don't personally think they need to go through a full tank of fuel and run to every brush pile in the lake to make it a good experience. Just my thoughts.

The lake is gonna be iced over before he gets there anyway LOL
