There are several guides that are on Crappie.com. Not all guides fish the same method or locations. I would think that one would contact several guides and ask
questions to determine which guide would be best suited to the methods I wanted to learn.

I know that I would want a guide that could show me new methods and teach me about the lake and help me to be a better crappie fisherman.

I have fished with guides, that in my opinion were not worth the time and money. I wouldn't want to fish with a guide that just joins the crowd at the
bridge and dunks jigs. But, if all you want is a mess of fish to eat. One can catch 'em at the bridge! Of course you could park at the sail boat harbor and
    catch em there too.

Just Google Rend Lake Crappie guides, get phone numbers and start calling. On the first page you should get at least 6 or 7. Ask 'em for clients names and call a few. Another option is to ask crappie.com members to private message you with their comments. I am sure you would get more accurate information in a private message than on a public forum.
