    Default my shelbyville trip

Well here was a trip that you wish that you never had went on. It started well Friday afternoon, got on the lake weather was nice and went to fishing favorites and spider rigged some minnows. The fishing wasnt good but our campground neighbors didnt have much luck either. Then Saturday came and things went from bad to worse, started spider rigging with out any success and switched over to pulling crankbaits. Didnt have all the lines out when I got a massive hit on a black bandit, reeled in a nice 1.5 pound green carp while this was going on I had a problem that need my attention for a second and stupid me layed my rod down with the green card still in the water, well everyone know what happened next. I heard a splash and i could just see my trolling rod sinking in 35 feet of water. Now this is the bad part of the day, im not even close to worse yet.
I met bowhunter 1234567890( I just put in all the numbers can never remember what ones need to be there) and we went to a couple of places later on in the morning together and caught a few fish. I landed my biggest fish of the day Name: monster fish.jpg

Size: 44.9 KB and I thought to myself when I pulled it out, I dont remember that minnow being that big and had another one just as big. Its getting time to head out say goodbye to Pat and crew and then the worse part kicks in.
I had mentioned to my partner when we left that I need to get gas at Lithia. welllll when we left the coves down by Lithia partner jumped behind wheel of boat and I never thought about gas because I wasnt driving. We get halfway back to Eagle creek and the motor goes phhhhh. phhhhhhhhhh then nothing.
The new 80 lb terrova will pull my boat 3 mph fully charged, pushed the test button nothing lights up, we trolled back for 1.5 hours starting at about 2.5 mph and got to the ramp trolling .7 miles per hour.
Floated the boat on the trailer and was done. So if anyone can top this trip this weekend just add it to the bottom here.

Dang Steve, You going to have that thing mounted? You forgot to mention about the wind and the wakes from the pleasure boaters which made the day fishing that much harder, and that your buddy was wanting to bring a banana on the boat. On the upside, I did show you my 2 hot spots where I have caught all my fish the last 2 weeks.
Lets go soak a line. Pat

clfarms1 - You need to invite Zettler to go out with you on a fishing trip. Most of the stories he writes about his experiences on Lake Shelbyville can top that one by a long shot. lol

AAAAaaaawwwwe poor baby...you're going to have to do better(or worse?) than that if you want to usurp Zettler from the "Throne of Misery". Just kidding, I feel your pain; I've had plenty of fishing trips that one bad thing after another happens. In fact, I have left fishing rods and reels at the bottom of lakes all across the mid-west (some are there on purpose, so as to not give me anymore grief, being the POS's that they were). My Grandpa used to say "Fisherman's luck- a hungry gut and a wet arse". I've since added some expletives to that saying while chasing after the happiness and relaxation this thing called fishing is supposed to offer. Sometimes bad luck just keeps rearing it's ugly head. You just have to try and think about all the really bad things that could have happened out there, but didn't.

Sorry to hear about the tough weekend!
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!

    Cl,

Anytime you want to go together and call up the Four Horseman, just call me!

Here is a taste from last Friday as it is what I have driven on to the Lake the last four trips and just thought it was rough roads...
